Pattern People + Scout Books

Inspired by the textures of fall fashion, the Scout Books team partnered with Pattern People to create a new, fashion-forward three-pack. Now you can dress up your Big Ideas in animal print, lace and plaid—and take them on the go. We’re excited to offer our first-ever set of fashion-inspired notebooks for your (very stylish) pocket.

Yes, that's marker-drawn animal print. So cool!

Pattern People are a knockout surface design studio here in Portland, OR, spearheaded by duo Claudia Brown and Jessie Whipple Vickery. You may have seen their great feature on Design Sponge last month about their collaboration with Hygge & West; they created a stunning collection of flora and fauna themed wallpapers for the online retailer. They work on all kinds of exquisite pattern projects and released an e-book, Pattern Design & Beyond, earlier this year. It’s a great resource for designers and illustrators looking to jump into the surface design game.

They describe their creative practice:

We specialize in creating designs using paint, ink, graphite, and pixels for a range of projects and products–from wrap-around residential murals to perfume packaging for the likes of Estée Lauder, Adidas and Godiva Chocolate.

Who knew pocket notebooks could be so stylish?

Pattern People's plaid is delightfully inky!

Truly impressive! Their work is marvelous, and marked with the liveliness that comes from a smart mix of analog and digital processes—resulting in patterns that are both technically impressive and downright fascinating. Oh, and absolutely gorgeous.

This delicate pattern sure looks great on chipboard.

We’re not surprised that Pattern People’s work—which translates beautifully to walls and interiors, textiles and print—makes a high-impact, stylish Scout Book as well. Black ink on chipboard is a classic combination—but don’t worry, these books are bold, and won’t easily be left behind. We hope you’ll be inspired to fill the 32 pages of your Scout Books with whimsical print and patterns of your own.
